The Simplest Things

Some of my favourite patterns have been the simple ones. You know, those patterns where you get stunning results from little effort and, due to great basic stitches and stunning yarn, you end up with a great finished project perfect for flaunting.

There are some great patterns on Rav which make me smack my head and say "Duh! Why didn't I think of this!?"

One such pattern is Cristiana's 100 Grammi. I've been working on this one since August 2011. No real reason why I hadn't finished it, easy repeat, lovely yarn...I put it down one day and forgot to pick it up for over a year. *shrug* That's about right for me. Well, in my usual end o' the year effort to finish the unfinished, I picked this bad boy back up and knuckled down and you know what happened!? I actually stayed focused. Woohoo.

I finally get to more this into the Finished Projects pile. Yea, me!

Scrunched up, it takes up very little room.

Shall post better pix later.

This yarn knits up so lovely. I was not crazy about the colour when I first received the yarn but clearly my first impression was wrong. This is now one of my favourite projects and the yarn is a major reason why. I imagine years of use.

Handmaiden's Lace Silk in Bronze.

I added seed beads in a pale aqua. I tried bronze, and gold, deep blue...did not like them. Weird. Thought I'd like the bronze, guess I do not know me as well as I thought I did. Hmmm.

Beads applied with a crochet hook as I knit.

Anyway...added beads randomly and did a chain stitch selvedge.

Thrown casually about the shoulders, it looks oh so elegant.
