It Ain't All Glitter

As much as I enjoy Beauty makeup, I do get a kick out of out-of-kit makeup effects. Non-appliance/small appliance makeup effects; cuts, bruises, blood work, burns...all pretty cool things. Regretfully, we often have very little time to play and create on most series/episodic shows. More times than not the effects are created in a rush, onset, just before roll. On shows such as the Listener some of my favourite moments were those times we rushed in just before roll to give an ER BG performer a head wound or bruises, turning to get the thumbs up from the ER or Paramedic consultant just seconds before action. It feels pretty good to have the consultant say we do realistic work especially as research has often shown me the real often tend to be the least "real" looking.

Continuity can get screwed in those times so taking pix quickly, efficiently just before roll becomes increasingly important. To this end I recently bought macro and a wide angle lenses for myPhone (or, at least, I tell myself that's why I bought it! :D)

From the Listener, season 3, episode 6 - She Sells Sanctuary (sorry the colour is off but I'm too lazy to adjust it. Hahahahaha).

And episode 10, Lockdown, the lovely Mylène Dinh-Robic,

From season 2 of Connor Undercover, Gavin Fox,

From the mini series At The Hotel,

Blind painter

From the Colony, an upcoming movie...

Fun, fun, fun.
