Set Life (as told through photos)

PART 1

One of the most often used descriptions of life on set is the phrase "Hurry up and wait." It at times aptly describes the pace of a lot of shows. That being said, I have done several show where the pace can only be described as frantic. Very little time between set ups, scenes shot and briefly discussed before moving on briskly to the next.

I say this all not to suggest life on set is all work and no play, far from it. I especially find tons of time for play, I am a bit of a goof truth be told. Trusty iPhone in had snapping pix of the beauty surrounding me I have started taking continuity pictures with more visual interest than the obligatory shots of actors stock still, eyes slightly glazed. I mean, I have to refer to these images through the course of the shoot so shouldn't they be interesting!? Location shoots are my favourites though studios do have their hidden treasures. Dusty brick walls, exposed pipes, the play of shadow and light, colour and contrast. What a wonderful world.
