Her Crowning Glory

A few years back I attempted my first crochet hat design. I called it Her Crowning Glory. It was one of the first items I designed for Yes, Mistress and it remains one of my favourite hats I've made to date. The prototype was rather painful to make as it required me using a crochet hook considerable smaller than what is recommended for the yarn. I needed the hat to be stiff. As the yarn is black I had a limited window of opportunity to work as I needed full sunlight to see properly (most days I work in one dark studio or another). It was a slow process as a result.

The second hat I created for Yes, Mistress was called Her Crowning Glory II and this was a softer hat made from a powder blue cotton yarn. It was a far quicker project. The finished project is softer and has shape only when worn. I made it to fit my recently shaven head and wore it with a black silk head wrap. I really like the hat but when my hair grew in, it no longer fit.

I am re-working Her Crowning Glory II and hopefully, I shall have the pix and pattern up by the end of the month. But, for now, here's a pic of the original.
